Golfing for a Great Cause

2007 Tournament

More than 200 golfers teed off at the eighth annual MJSA Education Foundation Golf Tournament on June 25 to help raise money for student scholarships and for the development of jewelry industry training programs. The tournament took place on the north and south courses at the prestigious Lake of Isles, located over 900 acres of pictorial landscape across the street from Foxwoods Resort Casino in North Stonington, Connecticut.

Named one of the nation’s “top ten courses” in 2005 by Golf Magazine, Lake of Isles, a pair of world-class golf courses designed by renowned golf course architect Rees Jones, features 36 unique holes carved from the natural topography that surrounds the 90-acre twin courses. The rolling terrain, island greens and tees, and extraordinary views all blend harmoniously with the incredible natural landscape and 50,000 sq. ft. clubhouse, offering a perfect location to support the MJSA Education Foundation.

In addition to rounds of golf, the event included a cocktail reception where golfers kicked back, relaxed, and mingled with their colleagues. This was followed by dinner, which featured an awards presentation and a live auction on several golf foursomes and vacationing hot-spots. The day ended by announcing the winners of the raffle, which included airline tickets, hotel stays, Tiffany & Co. cuff links, and more.

Besides supporting a great cause, some participants displayed outstanding efforts on the course, especially the following contest winners:
